The iconic Jane Austen quilt. A meticulous replica by Sew & Quilt of the original Jane Austen patchwork coverlet.

A medallion quilt with a large central diamond panel (the original features a printed Chintz panel featuring birds and a basket of flowers. We have intentionally left this blank for the maker to rework their own applique design). Surrounded by diamonds and a cream sashing with a deep border of small sized paper pieced diamonds.

Description

The 5-page pattern includes step-by-step instructions and diagrams to follow as well as fabric cutting instructions and a fabric swatch key with a numbered quilt layout to follow as a guide.

The acrylic template set includes (5) shapes; 3″ 5-point diamond, 3” x 1” parallelogram, 1” 5-point diamond, 1” ‘half-length’ 5-point diamond and 1” ‘half-width’ 5-point diamond.

MATERIALS:

5-1/2 yards ~ 5.25m approx. Large Diamonds. For our version, we have used 18 FQ’s from the Jane Austen At Home Collection and 4 additional FQs.

(= 22 FQs total).

4-1/2 yards ~ 4.25m, approx. Sashing fabric (Jane Austen Navy dot | C10019R)

9 yards ~ 8.25m approx. Border fabric

5-1/2 yards ~ 5.25m Backing fabric

3/4 yard ~ 0.75m Binding fabric

79” x 97” Cotton batting/wadding

Please note this is a free pattern we have meticulously recreated from the original patchwork coverlet quilt displayed at the Jane Austen House museum. We have the pattern available online to view and use, and we have provided the option to purchase printed colour copies, for a small charge to cover the cost of printing and packaging labour.
